Community Guidelines and Content

Venture Sessions is a surf community for surfers, coaches, guides, businesses, and people who care about the water. These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect across the Venture Sessions app, website, and related services (the "Platform").

These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. By using Venture Sessions, you agree to follow them.

1. Our Standard

The same things that make a good lineup work apply here: respect, honesty, awareness, and looking out for each other.

You agree to:

  • Treat other users with respect, even when you disagree.
  • Represent yourself, your skill level, your services, and your listings honestly.
  • Share surf-related content that is useful, relevant, or community-minded.
  • Respect privacy and consent.
  • Use good judgment around ocean safety and physical meetups.
  • Report content or behavior that may violate these Guidelines.

2. What These Guidelines Cover

These Guidelines apply to all activity on the Platform, including:

  • Profiles, bios, photos, and account information.
  • Posts, comments, reviews, session listings, board listings, and board inquiries.
  • Coach, guide, business, and host representations.
  • Messages, reservation requests, and user-to-user interactions.
  • Any content or behavior connected to Venture Sessions, including activity that begins in the app and continues offline.

3. Respect and Safety

Do not harass, threaten, bully, intimidate, abuse, or target other people. We do not allow hate speech, slurs, degrading language, or attacks based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected or personal characteristic.

Do not encourage violence, self-harm, dangerous behavior, or unsafe conduct in the water. Content that creates a real-world safety risk may be removed, and accounts involved may be restricted or terminated.

4. Content That Is Not Allowed

The following content and behavior are not allowed:

  • Hate speech, harassment, threats, bullying, or targeted abuse.
  • Sexual content involving minors, sexual exploitation, non-consensual imagery, or content that appears to exploit or endanger another person.
  • Graphic violence, credible threats, or instructions for causing harm.
  • Content promoting self-harm, illegal activity, fraud, scams, or dangerous misuse of equipment.
  • Spam, fake engagement, fake reviews, deceptive promotions, phishing, or coordinated inauthentic activity.
  • Impersonation or false claims about identity, credentials, affiliations, certifications, services, skill level, or ownership.
  • Private personal information shared without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, financial information, private messages, or identifying information about another person.
  • Content that infringes another person's intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Repeated off-topic posts, solicitations, or promotional content that does not belong in the Venture Sessions community.

5. Surf-Specific Conduct

Venture Sessions exists around real ocean activity, so honesty and safety matter.

Surfers should not misrepresent their ability, experience, fitness, comfort in the water, or the conditions they are prepared to handle.

Coaches, guides, instructors, hosts, and businesses must describe their sessions, services, locations, pricing, availability, credentials, and expectations accurately. Do not claim certifications, permits, insurance, sponsorships, or affiliations you do not have.

Board listings must accurately describe the board or equipment being listed, including condition, ownership, price, rental terms, pickup area, and known damage or safety concerns.

Do not use Venture Sessions to pressure someone into unsafe surf, bypass local safety norms, avoid reasonable waivers, mislead users about conditions, or move interactions into channels for abusive, deceptive, or unsafe purposes.

6. Privacy, Consent, and Photos

Respect other people's privacy and image rights. Do not post photos, videos, private messages, personal information, or identifying details about another person without appropriate permission.

If someone asks you to remove content that identifies them, take the request seriously. Venture Sessions may remove content when we believe it violates privacy, consent, safety, or community trust.

7. Reporting

You can report posts, comments, profiles, listings, reviews, and other content directly inside the App where reporting tools are available. Reports are reviewed by Venture Sessions administrators.

If you need to report an issue that cannot be reported in the App, or if you believe content violates the law, contact us at team@venturesessions.com.

For emergencies, immediate threats, or urgent safety situations, contact local emergency services first. Venture Sessions is not an emergency response service.

8. Enforcement

We may take action when content or behavior violates these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or applicable law. Actions may include:

  • Removing or limiting the visibility of content.
  • Warning a user.
  • Restricting access to specific features.
  • Suspending or terminating an account.
  • Preserving or sharing information when required for legal, safety, or security reasons.

We consider context, severity, user history, risk of harm, and the impact on the community. Serious violations may result in immediate account termination.

9. Appeals and Questions

If you believe we made a mistake, you may contact us and explain the issue. We may review enforcement decisions at our discretion.
